IWC Food Service Expands Produce Options
Two big names in the food industry are now combined with the expansion of the IWC produce line. Ronnie Gaw joined the IWC team in early 2017 and brought his expertise over from his long-time company, Gaw Produce, which shut down in December 2016. His father and grandfather began the produce business, shutting down after nearly 55 years in the business. "I was hired in May after doing some consulting for IWC," Gaw said. "There is a growing market for fresh produce and there are a lot of clients from schools to restaurants who use it." He has brought some of that business over to IWC as he is now the company produce buyer, merchandising and sales. "We really designed the position when we brought Ronnie on because he is perfect for all of that, " Bob Mackie said. "We were lacking knowledge in produce and he is able to bring in new product lines, geographical areas with clients, along with new services." Jimmy Mackie, IWC CEO, also noted that a growing number of Hispanic restaurants request a lot of fresh produce. "It is a win-win for everyone," he said. A new truck, "Produce Express," is dedicated for daily fresh produce deliveries in the Cookeville area.
